3 WAYS TO CELEBRATE GALENTINE’S DAY

Have I ever told you the story about why I celebrate Galentine’s day? I don’t think I have…so I’ll tell you a little bit of it.

Exactly 10 years ago I got my heart broken for the first time and as you may already know, it sucks! I was a sophomore in high school at the time and my school was hosting a dance on Friday the 13th. My best friend wasn’t letting me stay home, she insisted the cure was to go out and dance. So, of course, I went to the dance with her and guess who was there? The heartbreaker. So feeling out of place, I remember I decided to leave the dance when a group of girls from my same high school approached me to join their group and dance with them. They knew why I wanted to leave and they urged me to enjoy myself and not let a situation like that ruin my night, especially a day before Valentine’s Day. I think it’s one of those things we hate to face when we’re young and naive, but it’s inevitable. It happens to all of us. What I got out of this was a group of amazing best friends I still have till this day. We get together every Galentine’s day (Feb 13th) and celebrate our friendship. It’s amazing what happens when us girls stick together. So yeah, boyfriend or no boyfriend, my best friends get celebrated as well.

We’ve done a lot of Galentine’s Day adventures, so I wanted to share 3 of our favorites things to do.

1. SHOPPING NEVER HURT ANYBODY

I think shopping is a remedy. I know sometimes it can be a hassle to enter a shopping center with so many people (I’ve gone in and out of one – I know!) but at the end of the day, it can be so much fun if you go with your best friends on a little shopping spree. Make it fun and shop a look for each other! Get out of your comfort zone and try that dress your bestie is telling you to. You never know if you may end up liking it.

2. DINNER & A MOVIE

My best friends and I do this one every single year. It’s a lot of fun, especially if you watch movies that are valentine’s day related. We dress up, go to a restaurant we haven’t tried yet (I have a whole list here!), enjoy a happy hour, and then watch a movie. We try to make it different every year by picking a ‘theme’ and either dressing accordingly or eating out depending on the theme. I remember one year, we went out to watch Fifty Shades and for dinner, we decided to go to a fancy black tie restaurant. I don’t see us stopping this tradition any time soon, so if you’re not doing this with your girlfriends, I suggest you start! It’s too much fun to pass.

*alternative option for dinner and movies is staying home, ordering take out, and putting on some chick-flicks on Netflix while face masking haha, we’ve done this before!*

3. GIFT EXCHANGE

This one is probably my favorite thing to do. I gift my friend’s little presents depending on the theme every year. This year, the theme is ‘LET’S FLAMINGO’ and I’ve prepared the cutest little gift-bag for them. You can do it too!

This is what I’m doing…

  • Flamingle gift bag found here
  • Flamingo Socks from Forever21
  • Ringpop cos’ where all my single ladies? Haha
  • Lipsticks from Anastasia Beverlyhills or Nicole New York
  • A few Aesthetica and Betsey Jonhson Makeup
  • Biobelle Facemask

So do you guys celebrate Galentine’s Day? I absolutely love it… and I also celebrate Valentine’s Day which is why I’ve written a whole blog about places to eat in Miami.

Oh yeah, these are my best friends aka galentines…
