what in the quarantine??

I can’t believe this is real life? what in the quarantine!?

I don’t even know how to start this blog post. I never imagined in a million years I would be writing about what we’re all going through a quarantine. Since journaling has always been a source of relief for me, I wanted to write this here on the blog for you.

I had and still have all these plans for this year, but like so many of you, I’ve had to put these into hard a pause. To think we’re living through a pandemic that will go into the history books is so surreal to me. I had planned to travel overseas and focus on my goals. So while the plans may have taken a different direction, I’m still figuring out how I can achieve them while being at home. I’ve always been go-go-go, and I think I’ve been given a chance to take things slower, so I’m trying to keep a healthy balance to do both.

In a way, I do think this pause has caused us to self-evaluate, think long term goals, and prioritize. I have taken this time to focus on what’s important like family, mental health, and somewhat how I’ve been treating my body by trying my hardest to keep a routine that motivates me through yoga, light exercising and even dancing.. mostly on TikTok (FYI — if you’re not following me, I post a lot of fun creative content on there @chasingcarpediem!) But overall, I’ve been asking myself my WHY. Since the beginning of this blog, I always had some sort of purpose like, “traveling on a low-budget while being in college”, “moving away from home and following my dreams”…and now, I’m not sure what the WHY is so I’m definitely in a struggle to figure out where I want to go moving forward. I also acknowledge that it’s okay to not know. Baby steps right?

Things that I’ve been doing to keep me motivated: I’ve been making myself breakfast every day. Nothing new here to be honest, but I’ve been looking at old photos from places I’ve traveled to and recreated a lot of the dishes. I’m also very basic some mornings with my avocado and toast, although I do try to mix it up with salmon, peppers, or tomatoes. 

I’ve been binge and browsing haha… my new term for watching tv and browsing Instagram on my phone. I feel like I’ve watched everything on Netflix and I’m about halfway done with Hulu. But I do have a few shows I have to recommend: Elite, Casa de Papel, The Witcher, Velvet, and Little Fires Everywhere. It’s SO SO good.
